                                       Driver's Permit and License
The State of Alabama  now requires all homeschoolers to bring in a School Exclusion Form dated with the date in which you go for the written or road test. We used to only  have to have these for permit. If your child is turning 15 or 16 and will be going to take either test, it is very important to contact me to get this form. I will fill one out and allow you to date it as long as your enrollment form and fee are current. You must use the same color ink as what I use to fill out the form, usually blue. Please do not wait until the day you need this form to contact me as I may be unavailable.

Please remember, all children ages 7-17 are required to be in school unless they have already graduated. If your child drops out of school before age 19 his/her license will be pulled. I have to report every time someone doesn't re-enroll with me. The form I have to send in has a reason code for withdrawal. If the reason is drop-out their license will be pulled. You have about a week from the time of withdrawal to be enrolled elsewhere. It is very important to let me know where your child is enrolled if they do not re-enroll with our school.

                                             Work Permit
The Alabama Child Labor Law has Changed

On May 19, 2009, Governor Bob Riley signed into law House Bill 144. The new act reforms Alabama child labor enforcement standards, transferring the permitting process from the public school system to the Department of Labor. In addition, new record keeping requirements and administrative penalties have been added.

Youth at work

Under the new system, work permits are no longer required for each minor employed. In its place, employers are required to obtain a Child Labor Certificate in order to employ minors. A Class I Certificate is required if employing 14 or 15 year olds and a Class II Certificate is required if employing 16 or 17 year olds. Each location of a business employing minors must obtain the proper certificate(s) in order to employ minors. The cost of the Child Labor Certificates are $15 each and shall be renewed annually.
