Dear NACS Family,

My new Office which is also my store, Simple Blessings Thrift Shop is located at 9111 AL Hwy 40, Henagar, AL 35978

Your grades and attendance for the previous school year as well as an enrollment form and the $125 fee for the 2016-2017 school year is due on or before the first Friday in August 2016. There will be a $25 late fee added if you pay after the 1st Friday in August (the late fee does not apply to students who will be enrolling with this school for the first time). You can either mail your form and fee or attend the Open Enrollment Meeting.

Open Enrollment Meeting at the Henagar Park the 1st Friday in August each year from 1-3pm. The Park is located on Hwy 75 about a mile South of the Henagar Crossing. The closest address I can get to the Park is for Camp Drugs 18294 AL Hwy 75, Henagar, AL 35978 which is right beside the Park. The City of Henagar does not have a physical address for the Park. I will be at the Pavilion #1.

Most of your questions can be answered by visiting the school website where I also list upcoming events and field trips.

Grades, Attendance and re-enrollment for the new school year is due by the 1stst Friday in August each year. You mail your child/rens grades and attendance to me or turn them in, in person. Please, list your child's name, what grade they're in, and list the subjects and a final grade along with how many days they attended( must be at least 150). Everyone except those using the Penn Foster(High School) Curriculum will be required to turn-in grades to me. If you have a high school student who doesn't use Penn Foster, you will be required to show their work to me before I will be able to issue credits for graduation. If you use an accredited curriculum other than Penn Foster, you will need to provide a copy of their Transcript before I will issue their diploma. Grades must be in number form(88, 95 etc)

I will be happy to help you choose a curriculum for your student/s.

This school year, I will only be conducting school business on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each week from 10:30-5pm at my Store, Simple Blessings Thrift shop 9111 AL Hwy 40, Henagar, AL 35978.

Permits and Driver’s License Please, remember if your student is 15 or 16 years old and will be going to get their Driver's License or Permit, you will need to contact me at least a week in advance to fill-out the form he/she will need to take with them. Please, don't wait until the day you need it to contact me unless you plan to pick it up at Simple Blessings Thrift Shop.

Work Permit Student’s in the State of Alabama are not required to have a Work Permit. This law changed in 2009. Any company that hires teens is required to purchase a certificate stating they employ teens.

It is each parent’s responsibility to make sure your children behave during school functions. If a child is being unruly and the parent doesn't take care of the matter I will bring it to your attention or in a loving manner, I will ask them to stop especially if what they‘re doing could hurt them self or others.

Failure to abide by school rules will result in termination of enrollment. Refunds of fees are not given for any reason.

Driver’s Ed Course and Free ID Badge www.homeschoolbuyerscoop.org you will need to register for free. They offer a lot of discounts. For the Driver’s Ed Course it’s $29.97 per student you will need to visit their site at the link above. On the left side you will see Electives. Click on that and scroll down to Driver’s Ed and follow instructions. The free ID badge is under Free Resources.

A home school Cover is a requirement by the State of Alabama no matter which curriculum you use. If you’re children are not registered with a home school cover, you are home schooling illegally and at risk of going to jail.

Please check our website www.northalabamachristianschool.net for any changes. I don’t have time to call each family when something changes. Please don’t call me just to see if we’re still having a meeting or other event. I will do my best to keep our website up to date. The home page always has the current activities listed. If you don’t have internet and must call you may. Last year I kept records for over 200 students so, I do not have time to answer the phone constantly. I love my job and take it very serious but please remember, I am also a Home-school teacher to my kids and they need my attention as well. Many if not all of your questions can be answered on my website. Please, don’t call to find out when grades are due(First Friday each August) or when new enrollment is due(first Friday each August).

My Cover School is the most respected in this area according to Public School Officials and has also been voted the best in Jackson and Dekalb County for the last several years and I plan to keep it that way.

Dress Code: Females: no low-cut Tops (sleeveless or spaghetti straps are ok as long as they are not low-cut), no skirts or shorts shorter than 5 inches above the knee. No Midriff showing.

Males: must wear a shirt(also pants or shorts) at all times when attending school functions unless it‘s swimming. These rules also apply to anyone you may bring with you. I have these rules because this is a Christian Home-school Cover and I feel we should dress in a Christian Manner. There’s enough temptation in the world already.

No foul language by parents or students. No smoking around any of the students or other parents. I am allergic to cigarette smoke.

It is your responsibility to make sure your child/ren behave at meetings or school outings. I will step in if a child is being disruptive and isn't being taken care of by a parent.

I will not tolerate anyone enrolled with this school causing trouble for me, other families enrolled with this school or this school in general. Failure to obey any of these Rules will result in Termination of Enrollment from this school.

It is your responsibility to report to me any changes such as phone number and/or address. I DO NOT give Refunds.

With Many Blessings,

Sandra Summerford
